Specific Accessibility Features Implemented
- Skip Navigation Link: A "Skip to Content" link is provided at the top of each page to allow users to bypass repetitive navigation elements and go directly to the main content.
-
ARIA Attributes:
We use ARIA attributes to enhance the semantic meaning of elements and provide additional information to assistive technologies. For example, we use
aria-labelfor buttons and links. - Focus Indicators: Clear visual focus indicators are provided for interactive elements, such as links and form fields, when they are navigated to using a keyboard.
- Consistent Heading Structure: We use a consistent heading structure (H1, H2, H3, etc.) to organize content logically and make it easier for users to navigate.
-
Accessible Tables:
Tables are used only for tabular data and include appropriate headers, captions, and scope attributes to ensure they are accessible to screen readers. For example:
Scholarship Application Deadlines Scholarship Name Application Deadline The Mulwana Foundation Scholarship August 31, 2026 The Bank of Uganda Education Fund September 15, 2026
Our commitment to accessibility extends beyond the initial design and development of our website. We actively maintain and update our website to ensure it remains accessible over time.
We also provide training and resources to our content creators to ensure they are aware of accessibility best practices and can create accessible content. This includes training on writing clear and concise content, using alternative text for images, and creating accessible documents.
We are dedicated to fostering a digitally inclusive environment where everyone can access and benefit from the resources and opportunities provided by Uganda Education Hub. By prioritizing accessibility, we aim to empower futures through learning, regardless of ability.
